Sleeping Genius Baby

sleeping

FREE today – Sleeping Genius Baby, an app which plays peaceful music for baby’s nap/sleeping. According to the developer, this app helps in 3 ways: it gets your baby to sleep faster, it improve your baby’s sleep quality, and it improves brain function. When you first open the app, it downloads the HD audio files. Then you can choose bed time or nap time music for your child. Information within the app includes: tips for success, how it works, benefits, and more. Or you can read that same information on the developer’s website: Home – Sleep Genius and decide for yourself before your download it. Popboardz

Popboardz

Recently updated and FREE for a limited time – Popboardz, a productivity tool that normally sells for $4.99.  Popboardz makes it easy to organize, store, and present information. Each board is a grid with 16 spaces for content so that all of your PDFs, images, videos, websites, can be arranged on one screen. Unlike other presentation tools, Popboardz makes it easy to customize your presentation to meet the needs of your group. Just click on the grid space that contains the example, information, or link that you would like present next! It’s easy to skip around. This app would be fabulous to use in the classroom. A teacher could organize all his/her digital resources for a unit on one board. That board can be saved so it is always ready to present! It is also easy to edit and/or rearrange boards so that lessons can be tweaked as new resources become available. Students could also use Popboardz – to organize information, to present projects, to give reports, and more. Writing Wizard – Kids Learn to Write Letters

Writing

FREE for a limited time – Writing Wizard – Kids Learn to Write Letters, a fun educational app that teaches kids to write manuscript letters. The app teaches kids to print letters using 3 of the most common handwriting styles – Zaner-Bloser,  D’Nealian, or Handwriting Without Tears. Kids start by tapping a letter. That letter is named and its sound is given. The app then demonstrates how to trace the letter. Then kids trace the letter using animated stickers with sound effects. After tracing the letters, they can interact with them. The app can be customized for the child’s level in a variety of ways – letter size, difficulty, show/hide model, allow to stop between key points, etc. It also provides detailed reports for teachers/parents which include the ability to replay and export the child’s tracings to view kids’ progress! But the BEST part of this app is the ability to create your own word lists (and record audio for each word) – a perfect way to practice spelling and handwriting at the same time! This app is fantastic for so many reasons – highly recommended!

All About Shapes by Tiny Tapps

all about shapes

All About Shapes by Tiny Taps is FREE again for a limited time for the iPhone/iPad. In this educational app, a genie and her magic lamp helps your preschooler learn about 13 shapes through activities such as songs, tracing, puzzles, and games. This app has a nice variety of practice. I especially like the shape section of the app because each shape is named/spelled and two examples are given. One caution about this app – the cone is not drawn as a 3D object. The other 3D shapes (cube, pyramid, cylinder) are correctly drawn as 3D shapes. Hopefully the developer will correct this error in the next upgrade.
