The app consists of 12 interactive scenes that come to life – one piece at a time. Kids build animated scenes by dragging & dropping items to their proper places. As they do so, they learn the name & sound of each item. The multi-sensory scene comes alive – piece by piece! After each scene is completed, kids gain access to an interactive album for that scene. In that album they can view all the scene’s items, listen to their names & sounds, and see how the words are spelled. Kids will love the adventures of Beck and Bo as they join them on a beach, in the city, on a safari, for a swim in the ocean, at a theme park, and more. Swapsies Sports

Spinlight Studio is celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas by giving away an app each day! Thank you, Spinlight Studio. Today’s FREE educational app is Swapsies Sports. This educational app features 10 mini games based on sports: football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, golf, tennis, boxing, cycling and skateboarding. There are two different modes: a dress-up game and an interactive quiz. In the dress-up game mode, kids mix-and-match hats, tops, & bottoms to find the correct combination. Kids will have lots of fun matching and mismatching the clothes on 6 different characters. Once the clothes are properly matched, a fun activity is unlocked for each sport. The quiz mode is age-appropriate. Kids are asked to make connections, reason, and classify. Nicely done for little ones!

FREE today – Swapsies Occupations, a cute educational app for toddlers. The app features 10 community helpers – baker, pilot, mail carrier, doctor, police officer, firefighter, builder, astronaut, engineer, and rancher. There are two different modes: a dress-up game and an interactive quiz. In the dress-up game mode, kids mix-and-match hats, tops, & bottoms to find the correct combination. Once the clothes are properly matched, a fun activity is unlocked for each occupation. The quiz mode is age-appropriate. Kids are asked to make connections, reason, and classify – find 3 things that fly, find 2 things that are round, find 5 things a baker uses, etc. Additional information is available in the parents’ section where you can download the Swapsies Occupations App Guide. This app was featured in Apple’s Apps for Preschool and Kindergarten. It’s also a Parents Choice Award winner. Nicely done!!

FREE for  limited time – Sago Mini Forest Flyer. Young children guide Robin on an adventure through the forest. The fun begins at Robin’s birdhouse where kids ring the doorbell inviting Robin out to play. From there they fly though the forest looking for the yellow markers that trigger 20+ animations. Along the way Robin dances, sings, and plays. Kids can make up stories to go with Robin’s travels. A small caution – one of the animations is the little bird burping after drinking from the pond. Parents can use this scene to have a dialog about using good manners. All in all, the educational app is very cute and fun for little ones!

image FREE for a limited time – ABC Go for the iPhone/iPad introduces your toddler (3 – 5) to 60+ things that go through sight, sound, and touch. The app opens to a grid arranged in ABC order. Kids can tap on a letter to find objects that begin with that letter or they can tap on a specific object to learn about it. As an object’s photo appears, a child’s voice says the initial letter then reads the name of the object (which appears in writing at the bottom of the screen). A little cartoon person drops down on  the left hand side of the screen with a link to a video clip or an interactive scene. The child can scroll to the left for additional pictures and videos about each object.

This app needs an internet connection to work because the 100+ videos are actually links from You Tube. They are chosen by Peapod Labs and checked to be interesting and safe for kids. Kids cannot link from this app into other You Tube content. This app is nicely done  – great for building vocabulary and beginning to read/spell words. Recommended!

FREE again – the full version of Whose Toes are Those, a very cute app for preschoolers. The app has a game show host, music, and an audience. Kids (contestants) have to identify which animal/person is behind the curtain by their toes. If the child chooses correctly, the animal/person does a silly dance – really cute and sure to bring some giggles! Little ones will have fun building their matching skills with this app!!

Move & Match

move & matchFREE for a limited time – Move & Match, an educational app that can be used by teachers, parents, or students to create simple activity cards for others to complete. The app is very easy to use. Teachers can create activity cards and send them to other iPads that have Move & Match installed. There is a wide variety of uses for this app – match beginning letters to pictures, reorder the words of a sentence, Cloze activities, reorder timelines, etc. Once projects have been created, you can save them in the Move and Match folder for future use. Projects can also be shared via email. This app would be especially nice for small group instructors or speech pathologists who could use it to create personalized activities for their students. The app permits you to use your own photos which would be fun. Kids love working on activities that are about them. 🙂 Lots of possibilities for this one!

Parents can activate or schedule calls for a variety of situations – going to the doctor, bath time, learning to potty, etc. Super cute and sure to be a hit with kids who LOVE Sesame Street!!
